What Is PALM?

PALM stands for the Pennsylvania Automated Load Management (PALM) Initiative. This program was formed through grants provided by Pennsylvania's Growing Greener II funds and managed by the (DEP) Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is on the forefront of promoting renewable energy standards as well as the promotion of clean energy and energy efficiency. Pennsylvania's Act 213 requires that a certain percentage of the electric energy sold to retail customers in Pennsylvania by electric distribution companies and electric generation suppliers be derived from alternative energy resources as well as energy efficiency.

The PALM Initiative is designed to promote, educate, and provide commercial electricity consumers of Pennsylvania a program to:

• Reduce toxic emissions through energy conservation measures
• Educate commercial consumers to lower their electric bills
• Register and trade Renewable Energy Credits (RECs)
